Marvel’s Iron Fist is back for Season 2

Iron Fist Season Two was released by Netflix is here and its way better than the first season. The Netflix MCU keeps moving along as we go to Chinatown and see what’s new with Danny Rand and the gang. This season takes place concurrently with Luke Cage’s second season and a year after Danny returns to New York from K’un-Lun.

Review

Danny Rand, played by Finn Jones, is getting used to modern life and catching up and what he’s missed. Colleen Wing, played by Jessica Henwick, also returns as Danny’s now girlfriend and confidante. The tone of season 2 of Iron Fist is less hokey than the previous visitation. More character development is added to make the story better. There’re also a lot of loose ends and issues brought up from the first season that are taken care of as well. On a good note, you won’t be playing the Iron Fist Drinking Game in season 2 of Iron Fist. The game being that you take a shot every time Danny says that he’s the Immortal Iron Fist. Misty Knight also appears in this season and gives some insight on what’s going on in Harlem with Luke Cage.

On the villain side of the game, Davos (played by Sacha Dhawan) returns alongside Alice Eve as Mary Walker. I’m not giving any spoilers in this review but that name should ring a bell with the hardcore comic fans.

The major themes of this season are finding your identity in the world. Also a major theme is deserving versus earning your place in the world. The major theme, the one that stuck out to this writer most, was the question of “is a white savior what we need in the world?” The answer to this question is presented beautifully by the way and you’ll just have to watch the season 2 of Iron Fist to find out.

This season was good. The fight scenes were much better. The story was more coherent and the characters were more likable. I definitely say give it a watch. The juice is definitely worth the squeeze.
