Michael James Scott returns for Her Universe Fashion Show 10th Anniversary [SDCC]

Michael James Scott is set to co-host the tenth annual Her Universe Fashion Show with Ashley Eckstein on July 25, 2024.

Michael James Scott will co-host the tenth annual Her Universe Fashion Show alongside Ashley Eckstein on July 25, 2024. Best known for his role as the longest-running Genie in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, Scott has also graced the stage in Broadway productions of Mamma Mia, Tarzan, All Shook Up, The Pirate Queen, Elf, and Hair.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Scott shared some exciting details about the upcoming show. While remaining tight-lipped about specific details, he did reveal that the show will be a celebration of all things Mattel. As a result, fans can expect to see designs inspired by their favorite childhood toys and characters, with a few fun surprises in store.

This year’s show will also mark Michael’s second time hosting the event. He shared that he learned a lot from his first experience and is excited to bring that knowledge to this year’s show. Additionally, he also emphasized the importance of being present in the moment and enjoying the energy of the crowd.

Jenna: Are you approaching this year any different now that you’ve had that experience of your first time hosting this huge event?

Michael: You know, I kind of thought a lot about that. It was like, oh, gosh, what am I going to do differently this year? Then I think I kind of stopped thinking about that because that was what was so great about last year. […] Us being able to connect and just have fun and go off with the crowd. And so I thought, you know, Michael, don’t plan too much, just have fun. And that’s where I’m going. I’m going with the fun of it all, I think, because now I know what to expect.

The Her Universe Fashion Show 2024

For those who have never attended the Her Universe Fashion Show, it is, as Michael describes, a “geek couture heaven” where fashion, fandom, and community intersect. In essence, it’s a place where individuals can express their creativity and passion for all things geeky while connecting with others who share similar interests.

Moving on to this year’s event, the 10th Annual Her Universe Fashion Show will captivate audiences with the creativity of 25 talented designers who have poured their hearts into showcasing unique, custom geek couture looks on the runway. The ultimate prize? The opportunity to design a special fashion collection with Her Universe. The show is free for San Diego Comic-Con attendees, and all ages are welcome. With its special Mattel theme and exciting surprises, this year’s Her Universe Fashion Show promises an unforgettable experience for all. Therefore, mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this iconic event.

Speaking of details, the Her Universe Fashion Show will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 6 pm in the Harbor Ballroom of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego. Each year, the show features new and creative themes related to iconic pop culture staples, and this year’s Mattel theme is no exception. Mattel’s properties include Barbie, American Girl, Uno, Polly Pocket, and many more.
