Patton Oswalt and a panel on Minor Threats at San Diego Comic Con.

Minor Threats at SDCC

Comedian Patton Oswald and artist Jordan Blume started a new comic last year, Minor Threats. The comic focuses on lesser known, C-list heroes and villains. It is quite possibly the most comedic take on superheroes that’s ever been done in a comic book series. This year, Minor Threats comes to San Diego Comic Con.

The Minor Threats team had several announcements, the first of which was that the 3rd volume of Minor Threats is currently being drawn. One of the best parts of how this team handles each story is that they don’t hold back. There is never a sense of wanting to save something for an adaptation or a next book. They treat every story as if it is their last, making each moment compelling and worth it.

This weekend also saw the official announcement of Welcome to Twilight. Welcome to Twilight is a series of one-shots featuring different creative teams, including Gail Simone, and focusing on individual Minor Threats characters. Some are characters you are already familiar with and some were created for the universe but all will be interesting and hilarious.

Last but not least, the team also announced a new book called The Brood. The Brood is a comic book about the first family of supervilliany. It is a story of adult siblings that have all gone through the same thing but have wildly different points of view. The story will span a year of their lives with one issue per season and it will change POV. The Brood releases in November of this year.

Another major announcement was officially made during this panel: Netflix has picked up Minor Threats. It is in the very early stages of development but we do know that it will be live action.

Minor Threats and the world of Twilight City has a lot of major changes coming so whether you have been a fan from the start or you are looking for a good entrance point, there is something to get you excited.
