‘Monster Hunter Wilds’ Open Beta Revealed at Showcase

Capcom has finally unveiled exciting news about Monster Hunter Wilds™, the highly anticipated next entry in the beloved Monster Hunter series. During the October Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto dropped the latest trailer, highlighting the dangerous new Oilwell Basin ecosystem and the elusive “Black Flame” monster. The showcase also revealed details for the upcoming Open Beta Test, which will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Open Beta Test Dates and Platforms

Fans eager to experience the game ahead of its February 28, 2025 release can participate in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta, running from October 31 to November 3, 2024 (PT). PlayStation Plus subscribers can access an exclusive early access period on PlayStation 5 starting on October 28.

  • PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Plus Early Access): October 28 at 8:00pm PT – October 30 at 7:59pm PT
  • Non-PlayStation Plus (PlayStation 5): October 31 at 8:00pm PT – November 3 at 6:59pm PT*

  • PC via Steam: October 31 at 8:00pm PT – November 3 at 6:59pm PT*

What to Expect in the Open Beta

Players participating in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta will be treated to an exclusive first-hand look at several key features, including:

  1. Character Creation Tool – Customize your hunter, with the option to transfer character data to the full game.
  2. Story Trial – Experience the game’s opening cutscene, basic tutorials, and hunt the Chatacabra monster.
  3. Doshaguma Hunt – Roam freely in the Windward Plains or hunt the Alpha of the Doshaguma pack.

The Open Beta will offer both solo and multiplayer experiences, with up to four-player co-op available via an SOS flare or NPC Support Hunters. Cross-play will also be supported between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players.

New Trailer Highlights the Oilwell Basin

In addition to beta details, the latest trailer offers a closer look at the Oilwell Basin, a treacherous new region in Monster Hunter Wilds. This vast, volatile territory is dominated by erupting oil wells and the dangerous Firespring event. Two new monsters were also revealed:

  • Rompopolo: A Brute Wyvern capable of releasing toxic gas from its tongue, causing deadly eruptions in the oil-slicked ground.
  • Ajarakan: A Fanged Beast that armors itself in heat by rubbing its thick shell, making it a formidable foe in the scorching terrain.

The region also houses the craftsman village Azuz, which survives amidst these hostile conditions. At the heart of the Basin, the legendary Black Flame lurks deep underground, shrouded in mystery.

Beta Bonuses

Players who join the Open Beta will earn a special in-game bonus upon the full release of Monster Hunter Wilds. Participants will receive a unique Pendant to decorate their weapons or Seikret mount, along with a helpful item pack to aid them in their early hunts.
