Anime Pasadena returned to its full-scale in-person event this past December at the Pasadena Convention Center and with it came all the incredible cosplay. On Saturday, December 11, we attended a meetup for My Hero Academia hosted by Meda Bunny.
All of our favorite characters were there, UA students, Pro Heroes, and villains alike.
The meetup took place on the outside front steps of the Convention Center between the giant Pikachu and Grogu inflatables. The area provided lots of space to be socially distant. The vast majority of the gathered cosplayers wore masks as well. Some even specially matched them to their cosplays.
There was a large turnout and the organizer for the event, Meda Bunny, felt it went well, saying, “It went great. Everyone had a lot of fun, it stayed organized, everyone felt safe. Lots of great cosplays and there even was a family that cosplayed together that attended.”
A highlight for us was seeing the baby Mineta and baby Eri. So adorable!

Learn more about Cosplay and Conventions
The term cosplay is a play on the words “Costume” and “Play.” It is a popular form of expression at most comic book conventions. Attendees dress up as their favorite characters from pop culture and attend the conventions in full dress-up. Cosplay can consist of simple themed outfits, Halloween costumes, or elaborate homemade designs.
