The My Hero Academia season 5 OVAs (original video animation) are coming to Crunchyroll! Both OVAs, “HLB” and “Laugh! As If You Are In Hell,” will be available to stream starting August 1st. Both of these OVAs premiered during this year’s Anime Expo.
My Hero Academia OVAs
The OVA “HLB” or “Hero League Baseball” follows a baseball league of pro-heroes. It’s game day! The last game of the HLB championship is between Gang Orca and Shishido’s two rival agencies. They form teams in order to compete. Gang Orca’s team calls themselves “Orcas” while Shishido’s team is the “Lionels.” In the world of HLB, players are allowed to use their quirks. However, just when the game is about to finish, they are interrupted by a villain.
“Laugh! As If You Are In Hell” follows Deku, Shoto, and Bakugo during their internship with the Number 1 pro-hero, Endeavor. One of their tasks is to find a villain called “Smiley” who draws doodles in the city. However, Endeavor’s agency finds the urgency to catch this villain to be low. So, they let other pro-heroes solve this case. One day, Smiley draws a doodle on Endeavor’s house. Being furious, Endeavor himself and the 1-A trio (Deku, Shoto, and Bakugo) go out to get the villain. However, Smiley’s quirk turns out to be something ridiculous yet powerful. His quirk makes anyone who looks into his eyes laugh hysterically!
The OVAs were directed by Kenji Nagasaki and written by Kohei Horikoshi who have worked together on My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: Two Heroes.
Both of the OVAs will be available in the sub as well as English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese dubs on Crunchyroll.
