National Association of Voice Actors will host AI in Entertainment panel at SDCC

The National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) will host a panel called “AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective,” at San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC) 2023.

With today’s historic SAG/AFTRA vote to strike the AMPTP tv/theatrical contract, there have been a lot of questions regarding who can attend SDCC and under what circumstances. Linsay Rousseau, Director of Media Affairs for NAVA, confirmed that panelist Zeke Alton, who is on the SAG/AFTRA negotiating committee that has been working so diligently to defend the rights of performers, will attend SDCC.

“AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective,”

Perfectly time amid a double strike, the “AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective,” panel will discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on the entertainment industry, from the perspective of voice actors. Topics to be covered include the use of AI in voiceover, the potential for AI to replace voice actors and the ethical considerations of using AI in entertainment.

The panel will be moderated by Linsay Rousseau (Transformers: War for Cybertron, God of War Ragnarok, NAVA & SAG/AFTRA board member). Panelists include Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest, Horizon Zero Dawn), Cissy Jones (The Owl House, Transformers Earthrise), Zeke Alton (The Calisto Protocol, NAVA board member), and Tim Friedlander (Record of Ragnarok, president/founder of NAVA).

The panel is part of NAVA’s ongoing efforts to educate the public about the role of voice actors in the entertainment industry and their challenges. NAVA is the leading voice for voice actors in the United States, and its mission is to protect and advance the rights of voice actors.
