Netflix was all chill at San Diego Comic Con as they announced more details from its expanding original content pool. They took to the cathedral of Hall H to showcase two pieces in particular, their new Death Note adaptation as well as their original feature Bright.
Death Note is Netflix’s adaptation of the wildly popular manga of the same name. This time around, the story about what it means to hold the power over who dies is presented as a single film set in Seattle, WA.
Cast members and filmmakers were in attendance to introduce this new take on the story and fans were then surprised with a special screening at the Horton Grand Theater. The rest of us will have to wait until its release in August 2017.
Bright is an original film that brings viewers into an alternate Earth where humans live (somewhat) peacefully alongside orcs, elves, and fairies. It’s the way things have always been, and the world is otherwise as we know it, today. When a long-lost relic threatens to destroy everyone, two officers find a common ground in wanting to protect their world.
The film is fronted by police officers Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), whose human and orc (respectively) differences are put to the test. Look for it to start streaming in December of 2017.
