What if the steam engine had been invented 1600 years earlier in Ancient Rome? That question is the premise of Pax Romana, a new audio drama produced by True Indie Voice Art. Written by Nolan Kelly and executive produced and directed by video game veteran, Alix Wilton Regan (Cyberpunk 2077, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Veilguard), the audio drama series launches today with its first action-packed episode now streaming free of charge at TiVoice.art

A Steampunk Roman Empire Brought to Life
Temple of Geek previewed the first chapter of Pax Romana. Author Nolan Kelly paints a reimagined Steampunk Ancient Rome with some familiar modern issues. We’re plunged into an unstable and suspenseful world because, despite its technological advancements, Rome still suffers from extreme class inequality. Nora Farber, played by Devora Wilde (Baldur’s Gate 3, Clair Obsur: Expedition 33), has steady work, but one injury could take her skills and doom her to a life of slavery.
A Way Out
Nora develops a new handheld weapon, which could be an escape from her low status. But when a disaster sparks civil war, she and her friends must embark on a journey to decide the fate of Europe.

MIDDLE: Jo Martin, Jennifer Hale, Alix Wilton Regan, Safiyya Ingar
BOTTOM: Jennifer English, Aliona Baranova
All-Female Cast of Veteran Voice Actors
Along with Devora Wilde, the cast in this first episode is an ensemble of some of the most acclaimed women in gaming and audio narration.
Anjali Bhimani (Overwatch, Date Everything, Critical Role)
Emma Gregory (Assassin’s Creed, Baldur’s Gate 3)
Samantha Béart (Baldur’s Gate 3, The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow)
Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic)
Their performances all work together to create an engaging experience for fans of steampunk and historical fiction. The story itself is thrilling, but my favorite voice actors made it unforgettable.

At a time when performance is often undervalued, underpaid and increasingly threatened by AI, it’s empowering to be a part of a project that values our contributions as artists and commitments to a cause.
