After the epic conclusion of Netflix’s Arcane, Riot announced a trading card game called Project K. This new League of Legends branch will be released in early 2025. It includes well-known and beloved champions and artwork from the Runeterra universe and other League games, as well as multiple gameplay formats.
Riot hopes to entertain more fans beyond the mouse and keyboard, with this trading card game promising a great way of connection through gameplay, characters, and setting.
A League of Legends Physical Trading Card Game
The game is designed for two players to go head to head or for multiplayer combat. At first glance, the Project K trailer may be in the same light as Magic: The Gathering. Both center around champion-centered themed decks and combat.
“Each of the champions has a thematic that goes along with them. The Viktor deck is oriented around assembling a lot of small units to give them power spikes.”
– Cody Christie, Director of Growth and Marketing.
This trading card game features a collectible aspect. Riot is enthusiastic about fostering a competitive play environment. Beginning at local trading card game stores and progressing to national tournaments.
However, Riot is ensuring players from around the world can indulge in Project K. They are actively looking for partners worldwide to help this global launch. Until then, Riot will have trial decks to demo at the Teamfight Tactics Macao Open from December 13th through 15th.
Project K is developed by a dedicated team of passionate Rioters, with Dave Guskin serving as the game director and Chengran Chai as the executive producer at Riot Games.
