What we’re playing

Amanda- It’s Pokémon all day er’day for me. I’ve been clocking around 30km(18 miles) per week which is really the real reason I’m playing it. Since lockdown started, everyone isn’t moving as much, so I really recommend getting back into it if it’s your thing. I’ll probably put it down again once the world returns to normal, but for now, it’s providing a good incentive to get me out and moving.

Gaming news

Ubisoft shares fall despite big quarterly earnings – Assassins Creed Vahlalla led Ubisoft to its biggest quarter ever, but shares have fallen 6%. This is due to their guidance that we’re going to make less money than they thought overall for the year. But with a new Star Wars game in the works, this is probably pretty pessimistic of them.

Sledgehammer games reportedly making new COD – They made Call of Duty WW2 back in the day and rumours have it they’re back in the franchise for the newest instalment according to @Modernwarzone on Twitter.

Ninja ‘quits’ Fortnite – After what appeared to be 4 instances of stream sniping in one sitting, Ninja is done. He says he’s leaving the game that made him famous. He’d taken a long break from battle royale, but after the experience on his last stream, he’s done.

Main topic: How to pick the best sidekick for your playstyle

RPGs and action games often have the ability for NPCs to join you on your quest. But who you choose can often have a big impact on how the game plays out.

For me, I’m almost always ranged (if I can be). If there’s the option for magic, I’ll use it. Bonus points if it’s magic and a familiar. So when I pick a sidekick, it comes down to whether it’s a stealth game and if friendly fire is on. In a stealth game, I’ll always choose a ranged sidekick. I find it’s easier to keep them out of the way and reduce the chance that they will aggro something. If it’s not stealth AND friendly fire is not on, I’ll choose a melee companion. That way they can be a little meat shield for me. Lastly, I’ll always try to choose a companion that doesn’t use magic. That way, I can keep all the drops, weapons and resources separate. (They can’t use what I can.)
