Geeki Tikis are quickly taking over as the must have exclusive at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Their brand is growing and Geeki Tikis are all over the place now. We spoke with Brandon about what’s going on in San Diego with Geeki Tikis…
What are your expectations for SDCC this year?
The 50th Anniversary of SDCC will be the biggest and best year yet for Beeline and our line of Geeki Tikis®. This year our booth is in the LucasFilm Pavillion and we are excited to debut a new line of Star Wars Geeki Tikis® for both the Classic Trilogy and characters from Episode 9.
We’ve partnered with a few of our Retailers to bring some exciting new Convention Debuts, one of which will include an autograph signing with Billy Dee Williams, Lando Calrissian himself!
What makes SDCC so special?
SDCC and Geeki Tikis go hand-in-hand. Our business was built on Pop Culture juggernauts including Star Wars, Marvel, Game of Thrones and DC Comics. We now hold over 150 licenses and like to think we have something that appeals to everyone. If we don’t, we assure you it’s coming!
What’s your typical SDCC day like?
This year we will be busy selling new products at our booth in the Lucas Pavillion. Aside from sharing new products with our fans, SDCC is also a time for us to reconnect with our retail and licensing partners.
What exclusives are you bringing this year?
We will be showcasing new Convention Debuts for a handful of Classic Star Wars characters and upcoming characters from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. including; Admiral Ackbar, Bossk, Lando Calrissian, Nien Nunb, BB-8, Sith Trooper, and Greedo. We’ll also be re-introducing Pre-Orders for our Millennium Falcon Punch Bowl and our 18pc Mini Muglets Set which we announced this past April at Star Wars Celebration.
You are working on your first store in Los Angeles, how is that coming along?
We partnered with Sweet! Hollywood on The Geeki Tikis Lounge, which officially opened June 20th in the Hollywood & Highland Mall. The Shop-in-Shop is our first retail statement and was a great exercise with plenty of lessons for a future tiki bar – The Geeki Tikis Lounge, which I’d like to open later on down the line. We look forward to interacting with our fans through a series of events planned throughout this year and the future. Our official “Launch Party” is kicking off August 3rd, so mark your calendars!
What’s one complaint you have about SDCC?
We were on a waiting list for quite a few years to get our own booth, but now that we’re on the show floor, I have no complaints!
Any secret San Diego spots you recommend people check out?
Anyone attending this panel knows about the False Idol (or at least I hope they do!). That’s one of our favorite “secret spots” in San Diego. We’re also good friends with the folks at The Grass Skirt in Pacific Beach. We’ve designed and developed a series of mugs for them, the most recent one being our Pineapple Skull. We have some exciting new items in the works for both The Grass Skirt and for our friends at False Idol and Smugglers Cove.
Have you ever had a celebrity reaction to your products?
We’ve have had celebrities react very positive and/or endorse our products which is great to see and hear. Those that come to mind include Michael Rooker (Yondu from GoTG and Merle from Walking Dead), Samuel L. Jackson, Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction), Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice), Will Wheaton (Star Trek TNG), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and James Gunn (GoTG) to name a few.
Where can we find you after SDCC?
Following SDCC, we’ll be at The Geeki Tikis® Lounge 8/3 for a summer launch party. We will be releasing a handful of new products that are currently only available at The Geeki Tikis® Lounge.
On 8/9, we’ll be back in San Diego (during Tiki Oasis) for another launch party at the False Idol. On 9/21 (Batman Day!), we’ll be throwing a bash with our friends at Smugglers Cove and October 3-6th, we will be back in NY for Comic-Con.
