Scott Snyder’s “Wytches” to be Adapted into TV Show

Announced via his online newsletter, legendary comics writer Scott Snyder’s Wytches will be adapted into a TV show.

From Snyder’s Best Jackett Press newsletter:

“. . . [I]n December, Wytches was greenlit by Amazon Studios and Plan B for their adult animation division to actually be on television in 2024. So I can’t wait, it’s something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for well over a year, and I want to be able to finally talk to you about it and share more of the experience as it happened and as it does happen and unfolds going forward. I’m so excited to finally be able to share all of this with you. But so, Wytches, for a while, it was over in development with Plan B for film. And what happened was, it felt bigger than a single screenplay than a film and it didn’t seem to be coming together despite the involvement of a ton of great people.

History of Wytches

Amazon and Plan B’s Wytches adaptation will be animated, with Kevin Kolde (Netflix’s Castlevania, Adventure Time) producing. Jock, the original comic’s artist, will be heavily involved alongside Snyder. The show’s art style will draw significant inspiration from the comic. The studios have greenlit two seasons of the show so far.

The first issue of Image Comics’ six-issue limited horror series was released on October 8, 2014, winning multiple awards, and has since then been reprinted in trade paperback. A Halloween special titled Wytches: Bad Egg was published October 31, 2018.

Rumblings of a sequel comic have been around for years, but nothing has been officially announced.

Scott Snyder’s other works include DC’s New 52 Batman with art by Greg Capullo, widely considered to be one of the best Batman runs in comics history, The Wake and American Vampire.
