ShimmerPop Shop specializes in unique Disney tees and totes

Maybe you’re planning your first trip back to the Disney parks after what seems like forever. Maybe you just snagged your Magic Key Pass. Or perhaps you’re biding your time, keeping the Disney magic alive at home. Whatever your Disney status, you’re going to need the perfect new outfit. One of our go-to’s for clever and original Disney-inspired designs is ShimmerPop Shop. The online brand specializes in unique tees, totes, shirts and hoodies by owners Sam and Matt. They sell their products on Etsy and Amazon.

The couple launched the business after Sam began making custom light-up mouse ears for family members to wear to Disneyland. She made so many, graphic designer Matt stepped in to help. Now they collaborate on everything from theme park apparel to vintage attraction poster mugs.

“While we do a lot of Disney-inspired designs, we love all pop culture and are constantly coming up with new ideas,” Sam said.

Temple of Geek Chic recently tried out a couple ShimmerPop t-shirts and matching tote bags. As you can see from this shoot with models @christina.is.crafty and @doc_in_the_box, the tees and totes are versatile and fun to style.

For reference, our models wore size large tees.

Definitely Broke T-Shirt

The Definitely Broke tee showcases one of our favorite ShimmerPop designs. So relatable! Who hasn’t blown their food and souvenir budget within a few hours of entering the parks?

Our one caveat is the printed graphic on the shirt was a little grainy with a slight bleed around the edges of the black lettering.

Definitely Broke Tote Bag

Made of polyester with a cotton lining, this sturdy, medium-size tote is roomy enough to stash all your Disney stuff: water bottles, Mickey ears, churros, lightsabers, and all the goodies you’re going to buy. The straps are durable and the logo is printed on both sides. Again, we saw a bit of bleed from the edges of the black lettering but, overall, we’re big fans of this bag.

What we love about them: Aside from the hilarious slogan, we appreciate the Definitely Broke design’s colorful, flag-festooned, retro rendition of the classic Disneyland sign. The lettering alone evokes strong nostalgia for those who grew up visiting the parks. Pardon us, while we flashback to our childhoods.

Note: This tee and tote are also available in a different style, featuring rainbow lettering and a 3D effect.

Take Me to Space T-Shirt

We can’t visit Disney without riding Space Mountain at least twice. The zippy attraction, opened in 1975, is an undisputed classic. This tee really captures the iconic roller coaster’s ‘70s outer space vibes.

We also noticed some graininess in the printed graphic on this tee.

Take Me to Space Tote Bag

Of the two totes we sampled, this is our favorite. The color scheme and graphic really pop. Even if you’re not visiting the parks, you could use this reusable bag for groceries and errands, or as a purse.

What we love about them: The mountain-shaped graphic beautifully depicts the ride’s instantly recognizable spires. The cooler shades of blue contrast gorgeously with the darker Navy. And the mix of classic Disney and space “fonts” give us all the good, Disney feels. It’s the perfect celebration of an attraction we adore.

Overall:

Both shirts are made of 100% cotton and are comfortable enough to carry you through a long, hot day at the parks.

While unisex tees can sometimes be problematic when it comes to styling, we found these shirts extremely easy to work with. As you can see, Christina was able to create surprisingly sophisticated looks with both tees. They’d be perfect to pair with shorts or jeans for a casual day or dress up for a Disneybound.

ShimmerPop’s designs are a welcome departure from the official Disney merch everyone is wearing. They’re a simple, colorful, eye-catching alternative to typical Disney fare. Disney diehards and insiders will find them especially fun to wear.

The tote bags add another layer of possibility for creating awesome looks. Go matchy-matchy and coordinate them with your tee or mix and match for variety.

More ShimmerPop Disney goodies

ShimmerPop also has a few other totes, as well as a wide range of t-shirts and hoodies. We’re currently drooling over their imaginative Haunted Mansion and Halloween designs. They offer some fun Magic Key passholder stickers and magnets, as well as original art prints.
