Short Anime Series | 2-Season Anime Recommendations

Anime as a whole has become more popular in the last few years. Whether you have been an anime fan for decades or are just getting into it, having recommendations for new series is always exciting. Here is our list of short anime series recommendations, where each series has 24-26 episodes. This list is in no particular order. Each series can be streamed on Crunchyroll.

Short Anime Series: Moriarty the Patriot

Moriarty the Patriot is an anime based on the manga series with the same name, written by Ryōsuke Takeuchi. This series puts a spin on the classic story of Sherlock Holmes, focusing on the perspective of William James Moriarty and the Moriarty family. The Moriarty family are on a mission to eradicate the systematic inequalities among the classes in England. Moriarty the Patriot is an exciting series that keeps viewers guessing as the “Lord of Crime” and Sherlock Holmes go head-to-head. Currently, there are 24 episodes and an OVA available to watch.

Short Series: The Case Study of Vanitas

The Case Study of Vanitas is a short anime series with 24 episodes. It was released as one season with two parts. The story follows the two main protagonists, Vanitas, a human, and Noe, a vampire, in 19th-century steampunk Paris. Vanitas seeks to cure vampires who have succumbed to a terrifying curse. Noe seeks to find “the book of Vanitas,” which is said to unleash said curse. When the two meet, Noe learns that he may have been naïve to the world around him. The anime is currently caught up to the manga, by Jun Mochizuki, as the manga is on hiatus. This gives you the chance to watch all of it before the manga continues.

Short Anime Series: Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign

Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign, also known as Owari no Seraph, is an end-of-the-world type vampire story. A world-wide virus is released upon humanity, causing the death of ninety percent of humanity. Only children and vampires are left, and the vampires promise to keep the children safe in return for their cooperation as slaves. Humans begin to rise up and rebel. The series, written by written by Takaya Kagami, focuses on Yuichiro and Mikaela Hyakuya and their respective sides of the war between vampires and humans. The anime itself has 24 episodes, but the manga is currently updating monthly through Shonen Jump.

Short Series: Noragami

Noragami tells the story of Yato, a minor god who has set out to make it big. Yato has no shrine for himself, no assistant, and no weapon. So, he leaves his phone number in public spaces for people to contact him for help. He meets a high school girl named Hiyori, and everything begins to change. Noragami is exciting and funny while diving into the dark past the gods may hold. This series has 25 episodes, and the manga will be ending with the publication of the next volume.

Short Series: Snow White with the Red Hair

Snow White with the Red Hair is a Shojo series that follows Shirayuki, an herbalist with beautiful red hair. The king of her kingdom demands that she become his concubine, and she refuses. After she flees to the neighboring kingdom, she befriends a handsome young man and his friends. The anime has one season with 24 episodes and is absolutely adorable. The romance between the protagonists develops naturally, and the character growth keeps the story interesting. The manga is still being published, with the 24th volume coming out in April.
