Looking for a marriage-centric manga that has tons of action? Shueisha has just announced that MARRIAGETOXIN will officially be getting an anime adaptation in 2026 by BONES Film, the highly acclaimed animation studio behind My Hero Academia, Gachiakuta, and so much more! The series will be directed by Motonobu Hori, who has previously worked on Carole & Tuesday—among other anime—while Kohei Tokuoka will serve as the Chief Animation Director and Character Designer, jobs that he has had for Sk8 The Infinity and The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity.
What is MARRIAGETOXIN about?
Originally created by Joumyaku and artist, Mizuki Yoda, MARRIAGETOXIN is currently being serialized on Shueisha’s manga app, Shonen Jump+. It tells the story of an assassin who is incredible at his job but lacks skills in the romance department. With the help of a suave, smooth-talking marriage swindler, he just may find the true love he’s been searching for. With new character images, a teaser visual, a PV reveal, and the voice cast of Hikaru Gero and Mei Kinosaki, this series is building hype for fans and new viewers alike, thanks to the unique concept and beautiful designs.
The Cast and Crew are Just as Hyped

The cast and crew of MARRIAGETOXIN have expressed their excitement and gratitude for the upcoming anime adaptation.
Haruki Ishiya (Hikaru Gero) is a huge fan of the series, who “eagerly awaited” to read the manga each week. Imagine his delight when he was cast in the lead role!
Shion Wakayama (Mei Kinosaki) also reads MARRIAGETOXIN. She describes her character as “a marriage swindler turned matchmaking advisor, who’s always doing their best for Hikaru’s happiness.”
Motonobu Hori (Director) calls it an honor to be able to help Hikaru Gero on his quest to find love. “We will be giving this project our absolute best, but I also hope all of you will continue to support and cheer on these characters as they move forward.”
Kohei Tokuoka (Chief Animation Director and Character Designer) says that working on MARRIAGETOXIN is so much fun because there are so many elements. From romance to quirky characters, he calls it “an absolute joy to bring to life.”
Of course, this adaptation is also a dream come true for original creators, Joumyaku (Story) and Mizuki Yoda (Art). Both have extended their heartfelt gratitude to the cast and crew. They are grateful to those who have supported Hikaru and Mia throughout the manga’s run. They cannot wait for fans to see MARRIAGETOXIN and continue reading the original series.
