With “Star Wars Visions” Volume 3 on the horizon, fans have plenty to be excited about. Not only the new studios and fresh perspectives, but also the return of a few standout stories that captured imaginations back in earlier volumes. At Anime NYC, Producer James Waugh explained that some of these stories simply demanded more exploration, and the team couldn’t resist revisiting them.

“Star Wars Visions” Volume 3 Explores Fan-Favorite Stories
Take “The Ronin,” for example. Jumpe and Takashi Okazaki had such a distinct, undeniable framework for storytelling around that wandering warrior that continuing his journey felt like a no-brainer. “When you hear their pitch,” Waugh shared, “you just kind of know—okay, we have to do that story.”
Then there’s “The Village Bride,” a short that quietly became a fan phenomenon. Cosplayers were showing up as F at conventions like San Diego Comic-Con and Star Wars Celebration, proving the character resonated in a major way. According to Waugh, director Haga-san brought forward a pitch that expanded on her arc in a beautiful, natural direction. It felt too important to pass up.

And of course, “The Ninth Jedi.” That cliffhanger alone practically begged for more. Waugh admitted the ending “almost speaks for itself.” Volume 3 will finally explore what comes next for those characters and the galaxy they inhabit.
Volume 3 Will Also Bring Fresh Perspectives
But it’s not all about revisiting fan favorites. If earlier volumes gave us an array of Jedi perspective tales, then Volume 3 promises to stretch the galaxy even further. “This volume broadens the scope,” Waugh explained. Expect resistance stories, rebellion stories, and even smuggler-centered adventures—perspectives that don’t always get the spotlight.
Perhaps most intriguingly, one short dives deep into the psychology of a stormtrooper. It’s a side of “Star Wars” we rarely get to see, and a reminder that the galaxy far, far away is vast enough to hold more than lightsabers and Sith duels. “Yes, there are still Jedi stories,” Waugh noted, “but the focus shifts to more grounded, character-driven corners of the galaxy.”
In other words, under James Waugh’s production guidance, “Visions” Volume 3 is set to deliver the unexpected while also giving fans the sequels they’ve been quietly hoping for since the very first volume.
