On this Episode of the Temple of Geek Podcast, our host Aaron Powell is joined by Mark Somers and Laura Sirikul. They are discussing the latest season of Cobra Kai, as well as the Karate Kid franchise as a whole. We are new into the third season of Cobra Kai, which was released on January 1st. The show originally debuted as a YouTube Original Series but has recently moved to Netflix. It takes place 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, where a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) struggles to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of Mr. Miyagi, and must face his previous adversary, down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo.
Laura Sirikul is a freelance writer, researcher, and managing editor of The Nerds of Color. Throughout her career, she has written for Nerd Reactor, Nerdist, Movie View Magazine, Red Carpet Report, Mental Floss, Trek News, The Hollywood Reporter, Character Media, Bitch Media, and many other outlets. She has covered film and television extensively along with in-depth interviews with major studios such as Disney, WB, and FOX. Apart from addressing topics covering film and television, Laura is a strong advocate for political correctness and social awareness for the underrepresented in the entertainment industry.
Mark Somers is a cosplayer, martial artist, and a retired stuntman. Mostly known for impersonating Matt Smith, you can occasionally see him post about his record collection at MadManCosplay on Instagram
Aaron Powell has been with Temple of Geek since 2018. He is a podcast host, content creator, cosplay photographer, and comic book consultant for Temple of Geek. In his personal life, he spends a lot of time on stage as a Stand-Up Comedian.
