Terminator Zero Premiering on Netflix this August

Netflix has announced the release date for Terminator Zero. Premiering globally on Netflix on Thursday August 29th, longtime Terminator fans will recognize the significance of this date as Judgment Day, a recurring theme within the series. This marks the day when Skynet’s artificial intelligence gains self-awareness and initiates a nuclear war against the United States. Check out the teaser trailer below:

The series is set in the year 2022 during a catastrophic war between the remnants of human civilization and an overwhelming army of machines. Originating in 1997, this conflict (Judgement Day) is when the artificial intelligence Skynet became self-aware and declared war on humankind.

Amidst this backdrop, a lone soldier is sent back from the future to the year 1997. Her goal is critical: alter the fate of humanity. Her mission is to safeguard Malcolm Lee, a scientist close to deploying an AI to oppose Skynet. As he navigates the ethics of his work, a future assassin relentlessly pursues him. This conflict irrevocably changes the fates of his three children.

The trailer debuts Sonoya Mizuno (House of the Dragon) as the voice of “Eiko,” a resistance fighter sent back in time to thwart Skynet’s looming assault on the human race. Additional voices include Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet) as Terminator, André Holland (Moonlight) as Malcolm Lee, Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka) as Koroko, and Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale) as The Prophet.

Created and executive produced by Mattson Tomlin and developed by Skydance Animation and Production I.G. Studio, Terminator Zero contains eight episodes focusing on characters new to the universe.
