Anime Expo announced Ryoko Kui, the creator of the hit manga series Delicious in Dungeon, as a guest of honor. Anime Expo 2024 will mark Ryoko Kui’s first visit to a North American convention. Fans of Delicious in Dungeon’s colorful cast and eccentric twists on fantasy storytelling and RPGs will have an opportunity to meet the creator herself through signings facilitated by the convention.
Ryoko Kui made her manga debut with a series titled The Dragon’s School Is on Top of the Mountain: A Collection by Ryoko Kui in 2011. She gained mainstream popularity with Delicious in Dungeon when it was first serialized in Kadokawa’s HARTA magazine in 2014. Then in 2017, the manga was released in English. Delicious in Dungeon has been one of the most popular manga series from publisher Yen Press for many years. It has a unique and appealing art style, along with a food-filled story that puts a fun spin on the fantasy genre. Following the January 2024 release of the anime adaptation, Ryoko Kui’s series has become one of the most popular properties in the world of manga and anime.
Delicious in Dungeon has remained one of the most popular fantasy series in recent years. The anime adaptation has brought its popularity to a new level as well. This gives the series mainstream awareness among manga and anime fans as well as a crossover audience of western fantasy and RPG fans. Delicious in Dungeon is currently streaming on Netflix in the United States.
Also, Yen Press produced a special acrylic standee featuring the beloved cast of Delicious in Dungeon. This exclusive item will be on sale at the Yen Press booth at Anime Expo. Fans of Ryoko Kui and her amazing manga series will be able to take home a fun memento to commemorate her first North American visit. This year, Anime Expo will take place July 4-7, 2024. Anime Expo is the largest anime convention in the United States. Each year, the convention takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The convention was started in 1991 as “Anime Con” by the members of UC Berkeley’s anime club, Cal Animage Alpha. Anime Expo boasts an impressive lineup of manga creators, anime studios, vendors, artists, cosplay guests, voice actors, and more.
