A lot can change in three years! In this episode of ‘This Week In Geek”, Trey Soto sits down to chat with the Co-Founder of Legion M, Jeff Annison, about how a great idea three years ago about a fan-owned media company came to fruition!
Legion M partners with some of the top Hollywood creators – from independent filmmakers to big Hollywood studios – to produce a slate of movies, TV, and digital content. They are also the first media company in history designed to be owned by fans. They are able to allow people to invest as little as $100 to own a piece of the company. Legion M is already proving that their business model has the potential to change the way things are done in Hollywood. They were a major presence at Los Angeles Comic Con this weekend. Bringing fans even more ways to feel connected to the world of Hollywood.
Memory: The Origins of Alien
At the Legion M booth on the exhibit hall “Alien” fans were able to purchase “Memory: The Origins of Alien” merchandise, including a “Chestburster” tee. This sketch was drawn by Dan O’Bannon, the screenwriter of “Alien,” while conceiving the classic Chestburster scene. As well as the opportunity to take a photo in front of an impressive Alien statue.
Legion M was the first fan-owned entertainment company to acquire a film out of Sundance when it picked up the fascinating feature-length documentary “Memory: The Origins of Alien” with its partner Screen Media. Legion M harnessed the power of fandom when its members used the company’s innovative Film SCOUT platform during Sundance, which directly leads to Legion M acquiring the documentary. “Memory: The Origins of Alien” debuts at nationwide theaters and on VOD platforms Friday, October 4!
Jay & Silent Bob Reboot
Legion M also brought with them the excitement of the new film, Jay & Silent Bob Reboot! This included hosting a main stage panel with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes! Following the panel, Kevin and Jason participated in a Jay and Silent Bob cosplay photo op at Legion M’s Booth. The photo-ops took place in front of the 30-foot Quick Stop facade that was used in the film!
