Temple of Geek’s “This Week in Geek” July 19th 2021

The world of pop-culture and geek is always changing. There seems to be a lot of news every week with comic books, television, film, and video games. Aaron walks us through the news for this week in geek, July 19th.

This week in geek July 19th

This week, the “Loki” series on Disney+ aired its final episode of season one. It has been confirmed that the show will come back for a second season. There is no official date for the return.

In the comic book world, Batman: The Imposter from DC Comics will be available October 21, 2021. This is three-issue series that shows a much darker, more gritty side of Batman and Gotham City. Batman: The Imposter is brought to life by director and screenwriter Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, Little Fish) and Eisner-winning suspense and horror artist Andrea Sorrentino (Joker: Killer Smile, Batman: The Smile Killer, Green Arrow).

Space Jam: A New Legacy is now available to see in theaters or streaming on HBO Max. The film stars LeBron James as he embarks on an epic adventure with the Looney Tunes to get him and his son home.

This week, July 23rd, the G.I. Joe origin film Snake Eyes will be available to watch in theaters. Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes. Golding is a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the “Arashikage” after saving the life of the apparent heir.

New at Temple of Geek

The Her Universe Fashion Show will be available for everyone this year. Comic-Con International will be virtual again this year. The most anticipated event in geek fashion returns Friday, July 23, as part of Comic-Con@Home. Check out our article for more information.

This week on the Retro Rebel Podcast, Stacey and Amanda talk about the baddies in video games that we loved to beat. Who are your favorite video game villains?

There is a lot of bad-ass girl power going on in film right now! Gunpowder Milkshake is on Netflix and stars Karen Gillan, Carla Gugino, Lena Headey, Angela Bassett, and Michelle Yeoh. The movie stars a great pack of awesome women and is absolutely worth watching.

Over on the Temple of Geek Podcast, Aaron talks about the Black Widow film and what it means for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Aaron hosts and talks with special guests Klee Wiggins and Ed Greer.
