Tony DiTerlizzi, the author of the popular children’s book series The Search for WondLa, enthusiastically shared how he brought his beloved work to life in the animated series “WondLa,” a sci-fi fantasy adventure based on his books.

An Interview with Tony DiTerlizzi, Author of The Search for WondLa

In this interview, DiTerlizzi states that he actively collaborated with the team at Skydance Animation for four years, contributing to the story, design, and casting decisions. He highlighted the importance of teamwork in animation. As well as emphasizing the collaborative effort required to create a captivating narrative.

Next, Drawing inspiration from a scene in his favorite childhood film, The Dark Crystal, DiTerlizzi shared his vision for The Wandering Forest with the animation team. He expressed his delight with the talented cast, particularly Teri Hatcher, who had been involved with the project from its inception. DiTerlizzi also commended Janine Mason’s exceptional performance as Eva Nine, praising her ability to infuse depth and emotion into the character.

In addition, the animated series explores themes of environmentalism, belonging, and self-discovery, which DiTerlizzi believes are effectively conveyed through the medium of animation. He stressed the importance of crafting stories that resonate with audiences of all ages and spark meaningful conversations.
