TONIGHT: ‘Twilight’ Director Catherine Hardwick in Conversation with Moderated By Matt

Where better than to celebrate sixteen years of “Twilight” on film than at San Diego Comic Con!? Tonight, Thursday July 25th, at 9PM, host Matt Ryan will speak to director Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the iconic screen adaptation of the phenomenon book series in Room 28DE. The event promises to not only be a celebration of vampire culture, and a dose of nostalgia, but an intimate and insightful conversation with Hardwicke. Ms. Hardwicke will reveal behind-the-scenes stories about preserving this cultural phenomenon for the big screen. After transitioning from lauded indie film such as “Thirteen” and “Lords of Dogtown”, Hardwicke was chosen for the coveted role of helming the first “Twilight” film.

Since its release in 2008, the movie went on to gross over $400 million dollars at the box office worldwide and spawned four sequels depicting Stephenie Meyer’s vampire romance novels. Most recently, the Hardwicke directed the crime comedy Mafia Mamma starring Toni Colette and served as executive producer on Olivia Wilde’s sophomore feature Don’t Worry Darling. Hardwicke’s resume post-Twilight centers female-led narratives.

Industry Veterans Hardwicke and Ryan to Celebrate Twilight

Hardwicke and the Twilight fans that attend tonight are in good hands with Matt Ryan. Ryan has interviewed hundreds of filmmakers, who enjoy his deeply researched, insightful and entertaining interviews. Studios, publicists and the talent themselves seek Matt out to moderate Academy Q&A’s (Get Out), panel talks (VEEP), and Anniversary events (Beetlejuice). In addition to an impressive hosting C.V., Ryan holds a MFA in screenwriting from Loyola Marymount Uuniversity and has studied films from virtually every era and culture. He created the series Script to Screen and continues to host live events with artists that dive deep into the complex collaborative process of taking a screenplay and turning it into a completed film or television program.

While werewolves are vampires’ mortal enemies, Comic Con has instructed the Volturi that all Team Jacob patrons must be welcome to attend the event.
