Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games announce new Star Wars open world game

Massive Entertainment will be leading the development of a new story-driven open-world Star Wars adventure. On January 13th, Ubisoft announced it is collaborating with Lucasfilm Gates on a new story-driven open-world video game set in the Star Wars galaxy.

Star wars lore is an inspirational source for the teams working on the game. Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO of Ubisoft, said that this is  the beginning of a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Games. Meaning that they will not only be working on this new project but possibly many more in the future.

In a statement Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games said:

“Ubisoft have a unique talent for crafting immersive worlds so we’re thrilled to work with them on this project. We are inspired by the passion and talent of the team at Massive, and together we share a vision for the type of original stories we want to tell with our players in this expansive galaxy. They have the creativity, experience, and community understanding to bring awe-inspiring authenticity, depth and innovation to this new Star Wars game.”

Recently Lucasfilm Games teased that a new Indiana Jones game with an original story is in development from Machine Games. Lucas Games is attempting to revamp their gaming division. There is notable concern about a new star wars game after some of the controversy over the Micro Transactions in EA’s Star Wars Battlefront games.
