Voice Acting Veterans Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt Launch Online Course

Voice acting power couple, Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt, are officially launching their first-ever online voice acting course, VOICE-OVER VOICE ACTOR: The Course, available November 11, 2025, on Kajabi.

This marks the first time Yuri and Tara have translated their decades of combined behind-the-mic experience (spanning over 1,200 credits) into a structured, accessible course that students can take from anywhere, at their own pace.

The Catalyst for an Online Course

In a recent interview with Temple of Geek, the couple shared how, despite their busy schedules as voice actors, including promoting projects like Topsy McGee, they were inspired to create an online course. Their inspiration for creating the online course originated from the same desire that led them to write their first book 16 years ago: the high volume of people seeking their advice on getting into voiceover.

Tara Platt noted that she initially struggled to find a book to recommend because nothing offered the solid, basic information she wanted people to have. Consequently, the desire to create an online course stemmed from this same need. This idea was further driven by the impossibility of fitting traditional class times into their busy lives as working actors and parents.

Meanwhile, Yuri Lowenthal was inspired by the MasterClass model, which offers pre-recorded, self-paced content. Therefore, utilizing the Kajabi platform, they created a fully self-led course to accommodate the hectic schedules of prospective students. Ultimately, this format made professional-level training truly accessible, particularly for people like single parents or those working multiple jobs.

Tara Platt: We wanted to give people really good, solid, basic information that they could then utilize and take on their own and turn it into actionable things that they could be in control of and responsible for to further their careers. That’s where the original book, which is now like 16 years old, originated from. Us trying to answer those questions. I originally tried to find a book that I could recommend to people, but there was nothing out there that was what I wanted people to know. So we just sat down and wrote it. We did the 10th-anniversary edition, “The Extended Edition”, where we touch on things like advancements in technology and performance capture. People have been asking us for the last 20 years, “When are you gonna teach a class?” Because we’re so busy, we were like, “I don’t know how that would fit into our lives”.

Yuri Lowenthal: And we’re parents, which is also the caveat.

Tara Platt: Yuri was watching Masterclass.

Yuri Lowenthal: Yeah, I was like, oh, this is a class that you can take, but it’s pre-recorded. I was like, maybe there is a way for us to teach a class without us having to go into the nightmare of trying to schedule something like that.

Tara Platt: We came across this platform called Kajabi, and it really seemed to align with what we were trying to do so that we can create a fully self-led online course. We want this to be a really solid VO 101, almost like a college entry class. We wanted to make it so accessible that anyone could have the chance to do it, which also affected our pricing point.

Yuri Lowenthal: The class is really geared towards the person who just wants to find out more about it, who wants to see if it’s for them, see if they enjoy it, and build some skills that would help make them competitive if they wanted to go forward.

Tara Platt: The course itself is like 17 different modules, which has multiple lessons in it. There’s homework, there’s a workbook that goes along with it with original scripts that we’ve written.

Yuri Lowenthal: Sorry, there’s homework.

Tara Platt: I know, but that’s part of what you want, is the experience practice. Those jobs that taught us the ins and outs, the repertory style practice, those jobs are the ones that are at risk of disappearing because of AI. We want people to get the information and the practice that they would have gotten from getting those job opportunities that may not be there anymore. We want people to get the information that they would have gotten had they done all those jobs, so that they’re coming into it at like a higher level.

Vice-Over Voice Actor: The Course, available November 11, 2025, on Kajabi. It is based on their acclaimed booksVice-Over Voice Actor: What It’s Like Behind the Mic and The Extended Edition. This self-paced program offers 17 in-depth modules. It provides over 9 hours of video instruction and guided exercises. It even has exclusive resources designed for aspiring voice actors at every level.
