Christian Slater, Holly Black, and Tony DiTerlizzi Interview at WonderCon

The original authors of The Spiderwick Chronicles, Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, were joined by Christian Slater at WonderCon to promote their new series. They touched on the difference in adaptations, from film to a series.

Holly Black is excited to have more time with the characters. “You get to actually see what they’re doing in spaces that we didn’t before. And, specifically, we get to know more about Mulgarath.”

Christian Slater said, “You can’t condense eight books into a two-hour movie and get the richness of that experience.” Tony DiTerlizzi agrees. There is more time to dive into the characters and the world this way. He said, “My favorite stories have a great antagonist. And to really dive deep into Mulgarath’s motivation and why he’s doing the things…are fantastic!”
