The cast of The Spiderwick Chronicles brought their charm to WonderCon 2024 on Friday, March 29th. In support of the upcoming Roku Channel Original series, Christian Slater, Noah Cottrell, Lyon Daniels, Mychala Lee, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Alyvia Alyn Lind participated in a panel discussion. Joining them were the original series authors, Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, for a captivating conversation about bringing this beloved adventure to life as a series.

Interview with Jack Dylan Grazer and Alyvia Alyn Lind

During the interview, Jack Dylan Grazer and Alyvia Alyn Lind discuss the fun and unexpected challenges of bringing their characters to life and what it was like on set with their fellow cast members.

Alyvia Alyn Lind plays Calliope. She is a creature and the right-hand man of Mulgarath, who is played by Christian Slater.

Jack Dylan Grazer plays the role of Thimbletack. “He’s a gnarly little beast. And he’s funny, and he’s got a lot of little quick quips and wit. He’s also great at hatching schemes.”

Fun and Unexpected Challenges in These Roles

Both Jack Dylan Grazer and Alyvia Alyn Lind talk briefly about how these roles are unlike anything they have done before. Calliope and Thimbletack are both creatures in the series, which allows for a bit more play when bringing them to life.

Lind mentioned having to learn multiple languages for this role. “She has a few different languages that she speaks. So, that was definitely an unknown challenge going into it that was just kind of like, sprung on me.” She went on to say that now she has a party trick!

Grazer enjoys the unexpected challenges the most. “I wanna stretch. I wanna do the harder things. Because later, down the line, it forms my art as a whole, as a function. And I can do more things.”

Be sure to stream The Spiderwick Chronicles on the Roku Channel. All eight episodes will be available on April 19th.
