Zack Snyder and Wesley Coller Explain Challenges of working on Twilight of the Gods
With every new project comes a new set of challenges. Snyder and Coller discussed the types of hurdles they faced while working together on this series. Both of them talk about the adjustment from previously working on live action to working with a series in animation.
Snyder explains that the biggest challenge for him was re-learning how to work within the realm of 2D animation. He says:
Sort of relearning [the] 2D animation process and really understanding what was possible and what’s not possible and all the tricks of it, I think that was the, that was the biggest challenge.
However, Snyder praises Xilam Animation as well as the entire design team for encouraging him and being on board for his vision.
Everyone was incredible and really kind of did an amazing job just kind of helping me, you know, navigate it…And also they really, they really wanted to…draw, you know, all the things that I love about, you know, storytelling and action and violence and sex and all that stuff. They really wanted to like really wanted to get at it. They were like, okay, tell us more. Because we really think that, like, that aesthetic is the show. And I and I was happy that they, they weren’t really fighting me. They were really encouraging me, for better or for worse, to like, really go for it.
In addition, Wesley Coller describes how well the entire team worked together to bring Twilight of the Gods to life. Coller explains:
I think as a testament to just, the sure footedness of the entire team in the process, we quickly became very confident, like, okay, we’re looking at it at this stage. We’re committing to this here because at a certain point you have to go and you have to stick with it, you know? But you can’t do it backwards. You’re not going to get your your date, your budget. And, so I think for me, it was the biggest, you know, adjustment from the live action world, but also was very, very happy with how that process ultimately played out.
