The “Amazing” Con that rocked Houston

Posted by

That’s right! Amazing rocked Houston Texas this weekend with an (dare I say it?) AMAZING show! Temple of Geek was there on Saturday to take in the con and get the scoop.

We did not have any idea what to expect as this was our first time attending this con. The showroom was packed with vendors and artists. We met the talented Chuck Huber who was a load of fun to chat with. We even got to hear him speak to us in his Emperor Pilaf voice from Dragon Ball which is something cool to hear in person.

We stopped by and spoke with the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, David Prowse. I asked him if he was excited about the prequels and he stated that they killed off his character. I think that may have been a sore spot for him.

We ran into Kealy Racca and Richard Seelig there. If you have been following our convention posts you know that we bump into these great artists all the time. Look for an in depth interview with Kealy Racca on a future episode of the “ToGCast”.

We sat in two panels on Saturday. The first panel was Mark Bagley and John Romita Jr. This panel was really awesome for me personally because these are two of my favorite artists. They discussed topics like being asked to draw weird things to how to become a better artist. I later was able to meet Mark Bagley and score an amazing Spider-man/Deadpool print from him. I was not however able to meet John Romita Jr due to the length of his line.

The second panel was Rob Liefield, who like the previous panel, talked on a wide range of topics to include Deadpool. Yes he spoke a lot about Deadpool. He even showed the Deadpool trailer to all the fans that came to see him. When his panel was over, everyone in attendance was able to get a limited edition print that he created for the con.

I met a lot of great artists, scored some amazing pieces of artwork, and had a blast at this convention. If you have a chance to attend any of the AMAZING series of conventions, you should definitely attend. It is one experience that I will not forget. I look forward to visiting this convention again!
