The winners of the 20th BAFTA Games Awards were announced on April 11 in a ceremony hosted by Phil Wang at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
The BAFTA Games Awards celebrate the very best games of the past year and the people who made them, and showcase a wide range of storytelling and creative excellence. The awards are voted by BAFTA’s 1,200 games members, experienced professionals working in the industry who selected the 60-game Longlist in December 2023 and the nominations and winners in two categories, Best Game and British Game. The nominations and winners in the remaining categories were voted for by specialist industry juries.
Baldur’s Gate 3 won four BAFTAs – Best Game, Music, Narrative and Performer in a Supporting Role for Andrew Wincott – and the EE Players’ Choice Award, the only award voted for by the public. Nominees from the game in attendance at ceremony included Samantha Béart, Neil Newbon, Amelia Tyler, Swen Vincke, and Tracy Wiles from the game.

Notably, The BAFTA Special Award, one of BAFTA’s highest honours, was presented to SpecialEffect in recognition of the outstanding work it does to enhance the quality of life of severely physically disabled people through access to games. The charity’s founder and CEO, Dr Mick Donegan MBE, was presented with the Award by Sir Ian Livingstone OBE.
