MARRIAGETOXIN Renews Its Vows! Season 2 Coming in 2027

Talk about an unforgettable Fourth of July! Today, the cast and creative team behind the hit action rom-com completely took over Anime Expo 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, giving fans an action-packed recap of everything that makes the series a breakout hit and treating them to some massive celebrations for the newly announced Season 2. The world’s most dangerous matchmaking service is officially back in business. MARRIAGETOXIN, the high-octane action series that brilliantly pairs an elite poison assassin with a cunning marriage swindler, has been officially renewed for a second anime season, set to premiere in 2027. From eccentric new marriage prospects to deadly clashes against rival “Masters,” Hikaru Gero’s quest for the ultimate bride is far from over!

The series takes place in the criminal underworld, where “Masters” are the best assassins money can buy. But Hikaru Gero, the heir to the legendary Gero clan of Poison Masters, is a cut above the rest. Spending his entire life dealing in toxins has left absolutely no room for romance, and Gero always assumed marriage just wasn’t in the cards for him. Everything changes when his grandmother, the current head of the clan, demands that his sister, Akari, produce an heir to carry on the family bloodline. Determined to protect his sister’s freedom, Gero resolves to get married himself.

The catch? He has zero social skills. Enter Mei Kinosaki, an incredibly cunning marriage swindler whom Gero was originally hired to kill. Instead of executing her, Gero makes a shocking proposal, prompting Kinosaki to note: “That’s the first time anyone’s ever proposed like that.” With Kinosaki acting as his ultimate relationship advisor, the curtain rises on the world’s toughest mission for love. To win a bride, you’ve got to play with poison!

Heavy Hitter at Anime Expo 2026

Sharing the weekend’s heavyweight slate alongside powerhouses like Part 2 of BAKI-DOU, the return of AOASHI, and major showcases from NBCUniversal, Bandai Namco Filmworks, and Fuji Television, MARRIAGETOXIN proved it is easily one of the season’s heaviest hitters. Here is a recap of how the team spent their big day today:

Earlier this afternoon, fans packed into a completely full JW Marriott Diamond Ballroom. Attendees were treated to a stellar behind-the-scenes deep dive into the creative work, breathtaking animation choreography, and unique comedic beats that give the show its signature charm.

The panel featured an elite lineup of the series’ creative mastermind and main cast:

  • Motonobu Hori – Director
  • Haruki Ishiya – Voice of Hikaru Gero
  • Shion Wakayama – Voice of Mei Kinosaki
  • Tatsuya Saito – Producer (Bones Film)
  • Ryoya Arisawa – Chief Producer (Bandai Namco Filmworks)

Right after the panel wrapped, the energy moved straight to the J.W. Marriott Gold Ballroom (Table 3) from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Fans lined up for a highly anticipated autograph session to meet the stars behind anime’s favorite chaotic duo face-to-face. Both Haruki Ishiya and Shion Wakayama spent the evening signing autographs, greeting passionate fans, and celebrating the massive Season 2 news. The lead voice actors also made major waves across the convention floor today with dedicated Industry Appearances:

Shion Wakayama: Captivating audiences today as the voice of our favorite marriage advisor Mei Kinosaki, Wakayama has also been a massive presence at AX this year thanks to her celebrated role as Momo Ayase in the smash-hit DAN DA DAN.

Haruki Ishiya: Lending his talents to the socially anxious elite assassin Hikaru Gero, Ishiya (Osawa Office) is a fan-favorite convention staple also known for his incredible work as Jiro Yamada in Hypnosismic, Shuichi Tsukamoto in Sound! Euphonium, and Kaoru Namikido in Tougen Anki.
