Here’s Our First Ever Look at Magic: The Gathering’s Star Trek Set

WeeklyMTG, Magic’s weekly show all about updating fans on its vast Multiverses and universes beyond, gave us our first ever look at the final expansion for 2026. Star Trek, launching November 13, is a commemorative main set honoring the franchise’s 60th anniversary. Fans can expect cards featuring plenty of characters, story moments, ships, and more from not only the iconic television shows, but movies and even animation. Star Trek is one of pop culture’s most beloved franchises, and the team at Wizards of the Coast paid the utmost respect when preserving its legacy. It’s just a glimpse, but we saw a handful of new cards, as well as the full suite of products available for purchase when it launches this fall.

New Cards

One of the set’s biggest surprises is the introduction of new Autograph Cards. These Standard-legal alternate feature textless versions of the main set counterpart, but with a twist. There are seven Autograph Cards, each signed by their actual actor. There are just over 200 of these in the world, and are only available to pull from Collector Boosters.

Making their return from Edge of Eternities are Spacecrafts and the Station activated ability. By tapping your creatures to Station a Spacecraft, you’ll gain access to powerful new effects once the requisite number of charge counters is reached. This is evident in the new card U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy Class, which is a massive card advantage engine.

Commander Decks

Star Trek will be getting four different preconstructed Commander decks. Details on the mechanics and what the Commander cards do are still mum. But if you’re a fan of the franchise, just knowing who is on the box can give you a pretty good idea of how each deck will operate.

Scene Boxes

Scene Boxes make their return, as well. These are alternate collections of six cards from the main set. When placed together, each card forms a larger image, which you can see on the box. The first is Enterprise-Q, a representation of an iconic episode. Then there’s Divergent Timeline, which features the cast of the J.J. Abrams alternate universe.

Play and Collector Boosters

The bread and butter of any sealed Magic product. Play boosters are unchanged; you’ll still get 15 cards per pack. Collector boosters are likely to include plenty of rare alternate art and Autograph cards, but details are still minimum.

Limited Formats

If playing constructed Magic isn’t your thing, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Limited formats. The Draft Night kit includes everything you’ll need for a quick Pick-Two Draft. If you plan to attend a prerelease at your local game store, the prerelease kit’s box art is gorgeous and has everything you’ll need to build a sealed deck.

Magic: The Gathering Star Trek launches November 16 in paper. No other details on the game’s MTG Arena release have been revealed.
