RIP Mr. Peanut! Mr. Peanut dead at 104 after saving his friend’s lives.

Oh no, you didn’t Planters! The Planters brand has announced that Mr. Peanut has passed away. They killed Mr. peanut off for a Superbowl commercial! In this very clever and hilarious marketing ploy, Mr. Peanut is seen sacrificing himself to save the lives of his buddies Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes. The Twitterverse wasted no time paying respect and sharing their condolences.  RIP Mr. Peanut!

“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that Mr. Peanut has died at 104,” the announcement reads. “In the ultimate selfless act, he sacrificed himself to save his friends when they needed him most. Please pay your respects with #RIPeanut.”

The ad below was released today and will air during the Superbowl Pre-Game show. During the Super Bowl somewhere near the third quarter of the game, the brand’s official commercial will broadcast Mr. Peanut’s funeral.

The 2020 Super Bowl kicks off in Miami on Sunday, Feb. 2.
