Bugs Bunny became an octogenarian this year and to celebrate, Comic-Con @Home decided he needed his very own panel. This die-hard Bugs panel consisted of three of the current voices of Bugs (Billy West, Jeff Bergman, and Eric Bauza), Pete Browngart (executive producer for Looney tunes cartoons), Leonard Maltin (movie historian and author), Jerry Beck (amination historian and author), and George Feltenstein (Warner Archive senior vice president). With a wide range of topics to discuss, this panel quickly began to bring this 80-year legacy into focus.
From throwaways to beloved classics
Billy West said it best, “…These cartoons were considered throwaways by the industries at large. And while people were getting popcorn and drinks this was playing on the screen. And so they became postmodernism. They are more famous and well known than the mo These cartoons became a real-life Cinderella story. They captured the hearts of millions and have continued to do so these the past 80 years.
Celebrating with a bang
To celebrate his milestone birthday, Warner Brothers is releasing a very special 80th-anniversary blue-ray box set. This boxset will consist of 60 of Bug’s animated shorts. And not only have these shorts been digitally remastered, but the DVDs are also chalked full of special features and loads of commentary.
