Temple of Geek Chic’s 2020 Geek Fashion Gift Guide is all about great style and helping to support small businesses. Geek Chic’s writer Lavender and photographer Monica have listed their personal picks for must-haves in Geek Fashion this holiday.
Lavender’s Top 5 Picks
Lavender has been our fashion expert at Temple of Geek for over a year now. We asked her to pick five geek fashion items to recommend for this list.
“My main reason for picking these items is because they’re from independent and small shops, with the exception of Her Universe. (But I had to include Baby Yoda. He’s going to be the hot item this Christmas.) It’s important to support small businesses when shopping for the holidays, especially this year during the Covid-19 pandemic.” – Lavender

- Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary Retro Track Jacket by Hero Within. We’ve reviewed Hero Within before and always found their merchandise to be some of the very best in geek fashion. For 2021, Hero Within is commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Wonder Woman with this commemorative Retro Track Jacket. The jacket feathers stitched patches, lightweight fleece interior, and the new Wonder Woman 80 Years logo on the back. It is made with 100% sublimated poly fleece.
3. Directed by Rian Johnson Tee by Super Yaki. These Unisex Black Tees are screen printed using eco-friendly, water-based inks and made from 100% Combed Ring-Spun Cotton. It is both comfortable and lightweight. Super Yaki also has a ton of other Star Wars and Rian Johnson inspired clothing and accessories. You can check out all their designs here.
4. Powered By Anime Tee. Adorned by Chi is a Black woman-owned shop! Their mission is to not only make the world a cuter, more magical place with their merchandise but also to permeate the pop-cultural consciousness with images of Black women in ways we’ve never seen before. Their Instagram is fun, unique, and worth giving them a follow. You can find all kinds of merchandise on their website. The “Powered by Anime” tee is screen printed and
side-seamed and made from 100% Ringspun Cotton.
5. The Child Hoodie by Her Universe. Officially licensed hoodie by Her Universe is available on the Hot Topic website as well as the Her Universe Website. Made from 60% cotton and 40% polyester. It’s listed in Junior sizing so make sure you check the sizing chart before ordering.
Monica’s Top 5 Picks
Monica has been working on Temple of Geek Chic for a few years as a writer and photographer.
“I’m always excited to promote small businesses in the geek community. And it was hard to pick just five for this list. But I am really excited about these items.” -Monica
- Tano Hand Painted Bag. This crossbody bag is inspired by the Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Each one is hand-painted and includes a Fulcrum Applicant. All bags made will come with a COA from our store and are numbered! (Keychain is not included). It is a beautiful and subtle way to show off your love and appreciation for Ahsoka Tano.
- Supreme Leader and Empress Rey ringer tees from Shop Friday Apparel. On a recent shoot, I got a chance to see these tees up close and I love how clever they are and the great fit on these tees. The entire Shop Friday Apparel Star Wars collection is really clever and I just really love it. Both the Empress Rey and the Supreme Leader tees are made from 100% Preshrunk Combed & Ringspun Cotton. They are available in a unisex fit.
- Marvel X RockLove Loki Chevron Necklace. I am a big fan of subtle geek fashion. So this Loki inspired piece from RockLove Jewelry really speaks to me. For Marvel fans, it’s a very obvious nod to the God of Mischief. But to non-fans, it’s just a lovely necklace. I find that very appealing in fashion. RockLove is designed by CEO & Jeweler Allison Cimino in New York, using the highest quality precious metals, premium enamel, custom-cut crystals, and fair-trade genuine gemstones.
- Star Trek Discovery Cotton Face Mask. Are masks fashion yet? They should be. It doesn’t look like 2021 is going to be a mask free year. So I am totally in favor of masks as fashion and just for fun! Please fill my stocking with geeky masks from Etsy vendor JenWatsonArt. This Star Trek Discovery mask is a reversible, double-layered cotton face mask that is handmade from quilting cotton and inspired by the Starfleet uniforms seen in Discovery. The front of the mask is navy blue with each half divided diagonally with the department color in a shiny finish. The look is completed with a handpainted Starfleet insignia with division symbol and rank pips.
- Star Wars Tie Fighter Men’s Bomber Jacket. One thing I’ve noticed in geek fashion is the lack of men’s apparel outside of hoodies and t-shirts. I am a big fan of the outerwear from Heroes and Villains Apparel. This Tie Fighter Men’s bomber is all the ’90s era style that I love with that added touch of fandom. The jacket features an embroidered Tie Fighter patch on the chest and Imperial Tie Fighter pilot artwork on the back. It has red bands on the sleeve and two front flap-snap pockets. It is made of 100% coated polyester.
