Each week, we get quite a bit of news about the pop-culture world. Corinna Beckmann walks us through what happened this week in geek, June 13.
Disney+: Loki
Loki premiered on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 9. The series picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame where Loki from the 2012 film escapes with the tesseract. He’s picked up by the Time Variance Authority which offers him an ultimatum: be erased from time for being a “variant” or help save the timeline and the universe.
Marvel hosted premiere events across the world, including events in London and Los Angeles. Special guests appeared at both, including Tom Hiddleston in London and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and actor Owen Wilson in LA.
Netflix News
As part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, news dropped from upcoming shows The Umbrella Academy, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, The Sandman and more.
Co-creator of The Umbrella Academy, Steve Blackman, teased the upcoming third season which will explore the new timeline created by the Hargreeves. He and Netflix also revealed the titles of the episodes, beginning with “Meet the Family” as the season premiere.

The cast of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness also joined the Geeked Week festivities, where a new clip from the new show was released. We also got a first behind-the-scenes look at The Sandman, based on the best-selling graphic novel series by Neil Gaiman.

Actor Jameela Jamil has joined the cast of Marvel’s She Hulk. The Good Place alum will play Titania, a frequent opponent of She Hulk who is also known for her incredible strength. Jamil will appear alongside Tatiana Maslany, who will play the title role, and Mark Ruffalo, who is set to make an appearance.
