According to Cricket, the key is making a mess so catastrophic when asked to clean that parents simply give up and do it themselves. His backup tactics include rapid-fire lying, stating a task is complete and hoping no one checks for at least seven seconds. And the “looks good enough” method of splashing a little water on dirty surfaces. While his methods might not pass muster with Dad, Cricket considers his chore-evasion track record an absolute win.
