Interview with Ashley Eckstein

Ashley Eckstein is best known to Star Wars fans of the voice of Ahsoka Tano in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and later Star Wars: Rebels. She also is the founder of Her Universe, a geeky clothing brand for all fans that also specializes in unique fangirl fashions for a variety of fandoms. Eckstein has really taken the life lessons learned by Ahsoka Tano in her various Star Wars appearances to heart and uses her as an example both for herself and others.

“I so badly want to be a real-life version of Ahsoka Tano. I ask myself almost every day ‘What would Ahsoka do?’ And I’m really guided by Ahsoka and I try to be an example of her every day. So I’m thrilled that I can actually do these exercises with kids at Star Wars Celebration and continue to be a real-life version of Ahsoka and I can’t wait.” – Ashley Eckstein

Star Wars: Mindful Matters

In celebration of Star Wars Day, Lucasfilm has launched Star Wars: Mindful Matters, a brand-new series of shorts on Star Wars Kids, written by and starring Ashley Eckstein. The video series is the latest project from Eckstein, who is the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The series, created by Eckstein and Lucasfilm in collaboration with Citrone 33, aims to bring mindfulness to the forefront and focus on the lessons that favorite Star Wars characters and stories have taught over the years.

In each short video, Eckstein will lead one Star Wars-inspired mindful exercise, teaching viewers that it only takes a moment to make a powerful difference in one’s day. Each episode is clinically based on evidence-informed educational resources provided by On Our Sleeves®, the movement for children’s mental health, powered by the behavioral health experts at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The first two videos will launch on May 4th on StarWarsKids.com with more released throughout May in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Eckstein will also appear on The Star Wars Kids Stage at Star Wars Celebration later this month to screen the series and lead kids in some of the exercises highlighted in these videos.
