Doctor Who News  Update

River Song Audio Series “Last Words”

First up in our audio adventures is River Song! The cover art and additional cast have been announced for the Life and Death of River Song: Last Words, the first installment in Big Finish’s new River Song audio series. Set after the events of the TV episodes “Silence in the Library” and “Forest of the Dead,” the story sees River brought back to normal life in the universe after her library consciousness is uploaded into a cloned body. All four stories in this boxset are written by Robert Valentine. Joining Alex Kingston as River Song are Greg Wise, Garrison Dean, Jamie Parker, Sam Avner, and a whole new crew: Jane Booker, Shogo Mikita, Jamie Suvari, Jacob Daniels, Andrew James Spooner, Glen McCready, Izzy Van Randwick, and Nicholas Bolton.

Last Words also doubles as a prequel to something familiar! It serves as a prequel to the 1975 Fourth Doctor serial “The Ark in Space.” Robert Whitelock and Christine Cavanaugh guest star as Lazaar and Vera, respectively, characters originally played by Kenton Moore and Wendy Williams.

The Life and Death of River Song: Last Words is available for preorder now from Big Finish’s website, with both collector’s edition CDs and digital downloads due for release this August. Listeners can also preorder a bundle that includes Last Words, as well as volumes two and three of the series, both out next year.
