FeliciaDay3D: Bringing 3D Printing, Tabletop & Geek Culture Together

Actress, writer, and geek icon Felicia Day launches “FeliciaDay3D,” a new 3D printing membership program with Thangs.com! FeliciaDay3D unites geeks worldwide through 3D printing! This collaboration with leading platform Thangs.com offers original designs and fosters a vibrant community.

Felicia Day: The OG Fangirl

In a recent interview with Portrait of a Fangirl Fangirl host Jenna Wrenn, actress Felicia Day dives into her new project, FeliciaDay3D. This collaborative effort aims to create and share 3D printable models, fostering creativity and making 3D printing more accessible.

To us, she is the Queen of Geek, although she says she is more the “Grand Duchess of Geek”. When asked about her inspiration for this new project, she had the geekiest answer to give.  It is the incredible creations that come out authentically in the geek community and from her fans and her daughter’s budding interest in STEM fields. With that, FeliciaDay3D hopes to achieve several goals. First, it celebrates the creativity of fans by providing them with tools to bring their ideas to life. Second, it aims to demystify 3D printing, making it approachable for beginners. Finally, the project seeks to build a welcoming and collaborative community around this exciting technology.

Day plays a key role in the project, partnering with 3D designers, providing creative direction, and acting as a community ambassador. The project focuses on three content areas: toys, jewelry, and tabletop gaming models. To ensure accessibility, Felicia Day 3D offers a mix of free and low-cost downloadable models. She also encourages people interested in trying 3D printing to visit libraries and maker spaces with 3D printing capabilities, encouraging people to experiment without feeling intimidated by the technology.

Build Your Geek Dreams in 3D

During the interview, she touches on the project’s subscription model, which offers exclusive content alongside individually purchasable models. This approach balances the desire for some exclusive content with the core value of accessibility. Finally, Day emphasizes the importance of geek culture, highlighting its role in fostering self-expression and welcoming communities around shared interests. Day’s infectious enthusiasm about 3D printing’s potential to combine art, technology, and personal passions is one of the many things that makes her the ultimate Fangirl.

About Felicia Day

For those who aren’t familiar, Day is a powerhouse beyond the screen (“Supernatural,” “Eureka,” “The Magicians”). Her web ventures solidified her as a true geek icon.

  • Web Star: She co-starred in the Emmy-winning web musical “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” and created the web series phenomenon “The Guild” (running for six seasons, winning awards, and inspiring a Dark Horse comic book series). Her “The Guild” costume even made it to the Smithsonian American History collection!

  • Geek & Sundry Founder: In 2012, Felicia established the immensely popular YouTube channel Geek & Sundry (over 2 million subscribers!). The channel launched shows like Wil Wheaton’s “Tabletop” and the legendary “Critical Role” before being acquired by Legendary Entertainment. Felicia continued producing content with them until 2018.

  • Multi-Talented Powerhouse: Today, Felicia juggles acting, producing, writing, and streaming. She’s a two-time New York Times bestselling author, recently released the acclaimed Audible Original “Third Eye,” streams weekly on Twitch, and keeps fans engaged with her monthly newsletter, “Felicitations!”

This revised version uses stronger verbs, eliminates unnecessary phrases, and focuses on Felicia Day’s active role in the geek community.
