A New Era for Doctor Who-themed Happy Hour Gallidays
Founder Brian Saa expressed his sincere gratitude for the community that has kept Gallidays going strong, even when it was tough to find the right space. Moreover, Lawless Brewing has stepped up in a big way, offering a dedicated space, top-notch A/V tech, and even a family-friendly environment, something Gallidays hasn’t had before.
Gallidays has a new home (for September and hopefully longer?) at Lawless Brewing in North Hollywood – on a different night of the week, too! Mondays! Garfield may hate them, but Gallidays doesn’t. It’s been a wild ride running Gallidays. Times change, bars change, but the Whovian friends we’ve made keep Gallidays alive. It is very difficult to find a bar in the area that is willing to give a group of Whovians dedicated space and time, as well as a place that has the A/V tech that we require to screen episodes. We’re lucky that our friends at Lawless Brewing are willing to accommodate us for this event, as otherwise, we may have been dead in the dark water. – Brian Saa
Gallidays moving to Lawless Brewing in North Hollywood
The inaugural event at Lawless promises an exciting full-circle moment for the group with a screening of “The Eleventh Hour.” In “The Eleventh Hour,” we’re introduced to the newly regenerated Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) as he crash-lands the TARDIS in the backyard of young Amelia Pond. Still reeling from his regeneration, he promises to return in five minutes to take Amelia on an adventure. However, due to a mishap, he arrives 12 years later, finding Amelia (now Amy, played by Karen Gillan) grown up and skeptical of his return.
Attendees can indulge in beer, wine, mocktails, and delicious food from MJM Savories until 8 p.m. Additionally, the event represents a bold trial for both Gallidays and Lawless Brewing. Show your support for this new venture, Whovians! Your presence could help Gallidays find its permanent home, ensuring the continuation of community building and their impactful food and toy drives.
The importance of community events like Gallidays
Community events like this are incredibly important. They provide adults with a sense of community that many lose after high school or college. These events offer a low-key gathering for like-minded people to celebrate their shared passions. Additionally, It allows them to get involved in the community through charitable endeavors like toy drives.
There is a significant need for events of this kind – local, non-corporate events where fans can relax, make friends, and celebrate their interests. The mere fact that this event has lasted a decade is a testament to that need. Be sure to stop by for this event and support this community!
