Anairis Quinones at the Premiere of ‘My Hero Academia: You’re Next’

The cast of the highly anticipated movie, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, came together to celebrate during the North American premiere in Hollywood. We spoke with Anairis Quinones, the English Dub voice of Pro Hero Mirko, about her experience voicing this character as well as her excitement for this next installment of the franchise.

Anairis Quinones Discusses Voicing Mirko at the LA Premiere of My Hero Academia: You’re Next

My Hero Academia: You’re Next is coming to North American theaters on October 11, 2024. The film follows the students of Hero Course Class 1-A of UA High School during the aftermath of the increase in villain activity. While going after a villain, they encounter a much more sinister threat: someone pretending to be Japan’s own All Might, the beloved and retired Number 1 Hero. Mirko, one of the Pro Heroes, joins the fight to help the student heroes.

Season seven of My Hero Academia is full of high-stakes. Anairis Quinones discusses how these stakes shifted the way she voiced Mirko. She says:

I think I had to push myself farther than I did in the previous season. Because it truly was [a] life or death situation, right? And I think she really pushed herself beyond her limits, but she’s getting the job done. That’s all that matters to her.

This red carpet premiere is a first for Anairis. She was the most excited to see all of the fans and how they feel about the movie. “I’m excited to hear their reactions. You know, like, we work hard on this. So, getting to see, like, what they think of the final product. That’s the best part.”

About My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia is an anime and manga series created by Kohei Horikoshi. In this world, most people have “quirks,” or special powers. However, Izuku Midoriya (also known as Deku), the main character of the series, is born without a quirk. Japan’s Number 1 Hero, All Might, bestows his own quick upon Midoriya, which allows him to join a class of heroes-in-training at UA High School. The students of UA High School are training to be the next generation of heroes.

The manga recently finished as of this year, after ten years of publication in Shonen Jump. There are seven seasons of the anime and three films, with My Hero Academia: You’re Next being the fourth. Watch each season, streaming on Crunchyroll.
