  • Boosters – Market Price on TCGPlayer: $4.90
  • Collector Booster – Market Price: $24.99

Subtle Size, Critical Effect!

It is time for the presents made for those looking to dip their fingers into Magic: The Gathering for the first time. However, the Starter Collection and Beginner Box are similar for new players. The difference lies in the Starter Collection, which contains no randomized cards besides what players obtain from the Play Booster packs. All prepackaged cards are the same. The Starter Collection also contains cards that aren’t in Foundations Play Boosters but are still Standard cards. There are some duplicates, but they are intended to help players gravitate towards the standard format.

The Beginner Box is perfect for brand-new players who learn best with tutorials. The Box contains a tutorial guide for two players to follow along with the Cats and Vampires decks.

Snag all of these on Amazon or your local game store!

About Magic: The Gathering

Magic: The Gathering is a collectible and competitive trading card game that debuted in 1993, created by Wizards of the Coast. It is set in a richly developed fantasy world featuring powerful wizards known as Planeswalkers. These Planeswalkers engage in battles using spells, creatures, and artifacts, all represented by cards. Players begin with a deck of cards often focused on a particular theme or strategy. The goal is to reduce their opponent’s life total from 20 to 0 or meet other win conditions outlined by the rules or card effects.

The game is famous for its intricate mechanics and strategic layers. Players draw from five different colors of mana (magic energy) – white, blue, black, red, and green – each symbolizing various types of magic and gameplay styles. This color system greatly impacts deck-building strategies, allowing various tactics and unique gameplay experiences.

Looking Ahead At 2025

Many great and insightful videos are out there to help build decks around this new set. Magic: The Gathering has confirmed that there will be a Marvel Spider-Man release in 2025, stating on their website that there will be “cards from across the Spider-Verse.” Alongside this, with an official release date, Magic will also have a Final Fantasy set, releasing on June 13th, 2025. Earlier this year, Magic also released an Assassin’s Creed set that we covered! Be sure to check all these out for more ways to spice up your decks!

Thank you to Wizards of the Coast for providing a copy for this review!
