The cast of “Until Dawn” appeared at WonderCon 2025 to promote the upcoming thriller film. Ella Rubin (“Anora,” “The Idea of You”) plays the main character, Clover, who goes on a dangerous journey to search for answers surrounding her sister’s disappearance. Michael Cimino (“Love, Victor,” “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur”) plays Max, one of Clover’s friends. Temple of Geek spoke with Ella Rubin and Michael Cimino about “Until Dawn” and what it was like portraying their characters.

Michael Cimino and Ella Rubin Discuss the Relatability of Their Characters in “Until Dawn”
Temple of Geek asks Cimino and Rubin what they hope audiences understand or take away from their characters, Max and Clover, respectively.
Cimino says:
Well, for me, I think that, like the relatability of everyone. I think everyone has a friend group like this or, friends like this. I think that, like, you know, everyone feels so relatable. And their performances are really grounded. And, I think that that is something that I want people to take away as like, ‘Oh, wow, I could be in this same situation.’ And I think that that’s really fun.
Rubin says:
I hope people take away from Clover that I did my best to depict someone who is quite lost in grief. I hope that it resonates a little bit and…is a connector somehow.

Some of the Highlights from Filming
Without giving too much away, Ella Rubin and Michael Cimino talk about some of the standout moments on the set of “Until Dawn.” Cimino begins with a laugh, saying they can’t get into specifics.
He says:
I think we have some amazing, amazing deaths in this. Those are definitely some of my highlights. They were really, really cool. I can’t say all of the specifics, but yeah…I think, like, the kills – or the deaths, more so – in this are amazing. And like, I think that people are really going to have a great time just watching it and screaming and yelling. And I think we should welcome that for sure.
Rubin wasn’t sure where to begin. With Cimino’s help, she recalls a specific scene that challenged her.
On my birthday, we did the rain-wall scene, and it was really difficult because the water was freezing. You don’t expect it to be difficult. It’s like, stand in a bunch of rain, and then it is. So, that was very memorable because Michael was there with a towel, ready to warm me up. And it was a really fascinating thing to, like, act while you’re being pelted in the face with rain.
It was a totally new experience for me, and I like to push myself as much as possible and engage with acting in as many ways as I can. And so, it was really memorable because I had never acted with my eyes closed for something for so long.
Synopsis of “Until Dawn”
