Insight Editions, known for their vast library of visual histories of pop culture icons like Superman and Star Wars, is coming out with with a complete visual history of one of the most iconic fighting game franchises of all time. Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory by Ian Flynn details the entire history of the games, from its inception in 1992 to 2023’s Mortal Kombat 1. The 304-page hardcover book comes out October 21 and will run you $60.

This book showcases art from every game in the series. From concept sketches and stage renders to in-game screenshots and character art, it has it all. Big hardcover deep-dives like this are great for any fan of books and the Mortal Kombat franchise. As both, I’m excited to see how this looks as a coffee table piece or propped up next to my complete-in-box version of the original Mortal Kombat on SNES. Either way, Mortal Kombat: Flawless Victory is sure to be the best way to learn about the vast and storied history of the iconic series.
