Video game hardware and accessory maker Hyperkin is bringing the popular SupaBoy to Europe for the first time this Fall. They’ve also shown off a couple of new color variants available to purchase, also available later this Fall. The new colors are Crimson and Prime, which depict the SNES and Super Famicom styles of our youth. If you’re both a retro game collector and physical media fan, this is a great way to experience your favorite old titles without the need for emulation or other means.
The SupaBoy is by Hyperkin is a third-party peripheral for playing your SNES or Super Famicom games on the go. It comes with a fully backlit screen, so no need to only play during the day. Every button from the original controllers are present, so you’ll have the traditional experience. But there are also two controller slots if you want to plug in and play a two-player title. It can play all PAL, NTSC, and JP cartridges, so region lock is a worry of the past. You can also hook this up to a TV with built-in AV outs if you didn’t want to play handheld, so you can really recreate playing games from the ’90s.
