The Original Boba Fett Rifle Heads to London Auction

Propstore is gearing up for its major annual Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in London, set for December 5th to 7th, with a centerpiece item that has collectors buzzing: the long-lost, original Boba Fett rifle from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. In an interview with Nick Williams of Temple of Geek, Propstore Chief Operations Officer Brandon Alingers confirmed the EE-3 carbine rifle is arguably the biggest piece for Star Wars fans in the auction. The auction itself is the “big one” for the company each year and features memorabilia from hundreds of different films and television shows.

The Discovery of a Star Wars Legend: The Original Boba Fett Rifle

The Boba Fett rifle, which is not currently in the Los Angeles office but will be displayed at a marketing event in London the week prior to the sale, represents a new discovery for the collecting community. According to Alingers, the iconic weapon was a piece of lore that fans had discussed for years, believing a collector had it, but no public photos had surfaced since 1979.

The rifle, which is built around a Webley flare gun, arrived at Propstore a year ago. After inspection, the team was thrilled to find that it not only screen matches and photo matches, but it also serial number matches the resin castings used in Return of the Jedi. Alingers noted that the discovery is Propstore’s third big Star Wars reveal of the year, following Chewbacca’s bowcaster in March and Darth Vader’s lightsaber in September.

Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983), Boba Fett wields the EE-3 carbine rifle, his signature weapon.

A centerpiece of the auction is Boba Fett’s (Jeremy Bulloch) Hero Screen, Photo, and Serial Number-Matched EE-3 Carbine Blaster from STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980), carrying the highest estimate of $462,000 – $924,000 (£350,000 – £700,000).

Cinematic Treasures Headlining the Auction

This year’s event, featuring over 1,350 rare and extraordinary lots, is valued at a combined estimate of $10.5 million. The auction showcases a remarkable range of props, costumes, animation artwork, and collectibles, spanning some of cinema’s most enduring classics.

Joining the blaster is a collection of other highly sought-after artifacts:
