Interview with Alessandro Juliani
Though the dub premiered in 2007, Death Note has remained popular, with many people flocking to Anime Pasadena to meet the cast. The panel was full, and many waited in line for hours to get autographs. When asked how it felt to meet the fans, Alessandro said:
Honestly, it’s mind-blowing to me. I had an inkling about what the response was going to be, but I had no clue there was going to be this much love. It’s been so cool. It’s been great. It’s been a great couple of days.
Alessandro voices L, the foil to Brad Swaile’s Light Yagami. Eccentric and brilliant, L is definitely an interesting character. We asked what attracted Alessandro to the role.
I wish I had a profound answer for you. When you’re an actor, and I was a young actor, you’re not that choosy. When an audition comes in for something, you do it. If you are lucky enough, as I feel hugely blessed to take the gig, and the gig turns out to be Death Note, it’s a charmed life.
You can hear Alessandro as L by watching Death Note. The 37-episode anime is now streaming on Hulu.
