Anime Pasadena 2019 took place at the Pasadena Convention Center and its second year was AMAZING! How does this con stack up to its amazing previous year? Let’s find out as Temple of Geek reviews Anime Pasadena.
Venue
Let’s begin with the venue. The Pasadena Convention center is in a beautiful location. The surrounding buildings and the convention campus made for great backdrops for photos to help make Anime Pasadena a memorable experience. However, the main gripe was that the actual con floor was too small to house the masses of fans who came to celebrate their fandom. This was a minor nitpick from this reviewer however, it does go to show how popular the anime scene is that a convention hall had reached maximum capacity in a short time in their second year. Here’s hoping that next year a bigger venue is secured.
Also, don’t let me forget that there was a GIGANTIC Pikachu to greet you as you entered ANime Pasadena.
Attractions
The attractions at Anime Pasadena were also amazing. There was live music throughout the day. There was even an amazing performance of the Pokemon theme song with original singer Jason Paige along with the hardest rocking nerd band Ragnarock.
Also on the main stage was a performance by the Tahitian Dance School Te Aho Nui, which was nothing short of both beautiful and awesome.
There were several panels that were equal parts educational and entertaining. And as a mainstay at Anime Pasadena, there were photo rooms where you could have professional cosplay photos taken by some of the top cosplay photographers in the business.
Culture and Fandom
Anime Pasadena was a small convention that was filled to the brim with culture and awesomeness. At every turn, you saw a different form of celebration to the art form we love so much which is anime. From getting fitted for an awesome kimono, to seeing a panel on how anime has helped those with their mental health. There was indeed something for everyone at this convention and it just keeps growing and growing. For those of you reading this ho love anime and are in Southern California, make a point to check out Anime Pasadena at least once and you’ll experience the love and care put into this convention. Here’s hoping that Anime Pasadena continues to grow so we can all come together and express how much we love anime.
